Ever wish you could just take a paper spreadsheet and have it magically import itself to your computer and into Excel? Well, now you can.

If you have an Android phone (iOS is coming soon) and Microsoft 365, you’ll be able to snap a photo of a printed spreadsheet or table and have it converted directly into a digital, editable spreadsheet.

Microsoft is using image recognition technology to grab the information off of the page and convert it to an Excel spreadsheet in the app. If it’s accurate enough, you many not need to manually input any information at all.

Import paper spreadsheet into Excel by taking a picture of it with the app.

In the app, the feature is named “Insert Data from Picture”. One tap can convert your paper spreadsheet into a digital format. This is an excellent use for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

I imagine this is going to be a very useful tool for a lot of people. Don’t have Microsoft 365? Let us know, we’re Microsoft Partners and can help you get your account set up and configured. You can do a lot more than just import data into Excel with Microsoft 365!
